Welcome to Mindful Mage Counselling, where healing meets storytelling, emotional regulation becomes a skill tree, and therapy becomes your next questline.
My name is Fox Mori, and I’m a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) based in Calgary, Alberta. I specialize in CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and narrative therapy, offering in-person and virtual counselling across Alberta. My clients include individuals, couples, and neurodivergent folks seeking a meaningful, grounded, and creative approach to mental health.
🎓 Education & Clinical Experience
I hold a Master of Counselling (2025, City University of Seattle) and a BA in Psychology (2022, Athabasca University). My clinical training includes:
I integrate research-based insights from Dr. Michael Yapko, Dr. Alok Kanojia (Dr. K), and Lynn Lyons, combining depth work with practical skills and a narrative-informed lens.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly a decade in education. This ranges from working in a Chinese Secondary School, elementary, junior and senior high schools in Japan and Canada. I saw how young people weren’t struggling with intelligence — they were struggling with stress, disconnection, and a lack of meaning. That realization led me to this work. Today, I support the very populations I once taught: students, emerging adults, and those who don’t always feel seen in traditional systems. Even after a decade later, students send me letters stating the same message, "You didn’t just teach us a curriculum. You taught us how to think—and how to live."
What sets Mindful Mage apart is how we blend traditional therapeutic models with storytelling, metaphor, and pop culture. Sessions might include:
Clients often say therapy here feels more like “co-op mode” than solo grinding — supportive, imaginative, and deeply validating. Life can be more vibrant with a guild or party rather than solo-leveling everything.
🌿 Two-Eyed Seeing & Cultural Integration
Living in the Beaufort Delta region among Inuit communities reshaped how I understand wellness. Through land-based traditions, story, and Elder wisdom, I began practicing from a Two-Eyed Seeing perspective — where Western psychology and Indigenous worldviews are held together with respect.
Cultural humility isn’t a checkbox; it’s a practice of curiosity, consultation, and community learning. I learnt by making mistakes every day, exploring humality, and walking with nature in -70C and +45C.
I offer support to clients experiencing:
Therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or clinical. If you’re looking for neurodiversity-affirming counselling, trauma-informed therapy, or someone who just “gets” the metaphorical language you speak, I’m here.
