Where Therapy Feels Like a Quest, Not a Lecture

Therapy for gamers, creatives, neurodivergent clients, couples, students, and anyone who feels traditional therapy was not built for them. In-person in Calgary and online across Alberta.

At Mindful Mage Counselling, therapy is built for people who think in stories, systems, side quests, boss fights, character arcs, and co-op mode. You are not a diagnosis, a case file, or a problem to be fixed. You are a person with history, patterns, strengths, wounds, skills, and a story that is still being written.

Here, therapy can feel more like character development than a lecture. We look at the loops you keep getting stuck in, the old strategies that no longer fit, and the skills you need for the next chapter of your life.

Mindful Mage Counselling offers therapy for adults, couples, students, gamers, creatives, neurodivergent clients, and FSCD-funded families who want support that feels practical, affirming, and a little more human.

Based in Calgary, I offer in-person counselling and virtual counselling across Alberta.

What Makes MMC Different?

Therapy should not feel like grinding experience points in the wrong dungeon.

At Mindful Mage Counselling, we use psychology, storytelling, gaming metaphors, practical strategies, and real conversation to help you understand your patterns and build better tools.

This might include:

Therapeutically Applied Role-Playing Games

Using characters, role-play, quests, and campaign-based storytelling to practise real-life skills in a safer, more creative way.

Narrative Therapy

Your past is not just a problem list. It is part of your lore. Together, we look at the stories that shaped you and decide which ones still deserve power.

CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness

Building your mental loadout for anxiety, stress, burnout, emotional regulation, communication, and relationship patterns.

Gaming and Pop Culture Integration

Boss fights, status effects, party roles, NPC dialogue, side quests, cooldowns, corrupted save files, warp cores offline. If the metaphor fits, we can use it.

Two-Eyed Seeing

Where appropriate, therapy may draw from both Western psychology and Indigenous ways of knowing to support whole-person healing.

Students and burned-out overthinkers

People tired of hustle culture, perfectionism, procrastination loops, anxiety spirals, and the pressure to always be optimizing.

Meet Your Guide

Fox Mori, Provisional Psychologist

Therapist. Educator. Gamer. Narrative nerd.

Fox brings together clinical training, creativity, lived experience, and a deep respect for the stories people carry.

His work is informed by CBT, DBT, mindfulness, narrative therapy, trauma-informed practice, neurodivergence-affirming care, and culturally responsive approaches. He has lived in the Arctic, taught abroad, worked alongside Elders, and spent much of his life learning how people make meaning across cultures, communities, relationships, and inner worlds.

Fox is not here to be your guru. Think of him more like a guide, someone who walks beside you, helps you read the map, notices the traps, and supports you as you build the skills to move forward.

“You’re not broken. You’re becoming.”

Start Your Quest

Therapy does not have to feel cold, clinical, or disconnected from who you are. It can feel like character creation, a strategy session, or the first page of a new campaign.

You do not need to be in crisis to begin. You can start because you are curious. Because you are tired of the same loop. Because something in your life is asking for change.

So, what is stopping you?
