Welcome to Mindful Mage Counselling, where healing meets storytelling, emotional regulation becomes a skill tree, and therapy becomes your next questline.

Fox Mori is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC #11260822, CCPA) and Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC #3339, ACCT) based in Calgary, Alberta. Fox blends evidence-based practice such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and narrative therapy — with gaming, story, and pop culture metaphors that make therapy feel accessible, engaging, and alive.

Mindful Mage Counselling works with individuals, couples, students, neurodivergent clients, and LGBTQ+ communities — anyone ready to move beyond cookie-cutter therapy and try something different.

Before becoming a counsellor, Fox spent nearly a decade in education teaching in secondary schools across China, Japan, and Canada. It became clear that students weren’t struggling with intelligence; they were struggling with stress, disconnection, and meaning.

That realisation led Fox into counselling. Today, Mindful Mage Counselling serves many of the same populations Fox once taught: students, emerging adults, and anyone who doesn’t always feel seen in traditional systems.

Former students still send messages years later:
“You didn’t just teach us a curriculum — you taught us how to think, and how to live.”

Hundreds of past students have sent updates through emails, letters, and postcards sharing life their stories after they graduated from high school.

What sets Mindful Mage Counselling apart is the way we blend traditional therapy with creativity and narrative. Sessions may include:

  • Pop-culture references — anime, games, comics, movies, meme culture

  • Therapeutically Applied Role-Playing Games (TA-RPGs)

  • Skill-building framed as quests, strategies, and levelling up

  • Practical CBT/DBT tools customised to your “character build”

Clients often say therapy feels more like co-op mode than solo grinding — supportive, imaginative, and validating. Life doesn’t have to be solo-levelling when you can travel with a guild. (Even Kirito from SAO needed party members sometimes.)

🌿 Two-Eyed Seeing & Cultural Integration

Living in the Beaufort Delta among Inuit communities reshaped how Fox understands wellness. Through land-based traditions, story, and Elder wisdom, Fox began practicing from a Two-Eyed Seeing perspective — holding Western psychology and Indigenous worldviews together with respect.

Facing the unique challenges of life in an isolated Arctic town taught that cultural humility isn’t a checkbox — it’s an ongoing practice of curiosity, consultation, and community learning.

Fox has walked in extremes: from -70°C in Inuvik’s tundra to +40°C in Japan’s rice fields. These experiences inform how Mindful Mage Counselling sees resilience, healing, and connection.
